Release Notes
Release Notes for Version 2.1.8 PDF Print E-mail
  • Most flashy in this release: the new side bar uses a tree now instead of the lists. This improves the overview enormously.
  • Note the small tool bar on the top of the tree. With the icons on the left, object groups (characters, locations and so on) can be hidden or shown. Click once to hide, click again to show. The icons on the right have the following functions (in order from left to right):
    • Show all object groups.
    • Hide all object groups.
    • Expand all shown object groups.
    • Collapse all shown object groups.
  • As before a click on a object shows the quick information. A double click edits the object or opens a folder. A right click shows the context menu where objects can be added, edited or deleted.
  • Locations are grouped by country and city. Characters are grouped by category (see below). Chapters are grouped by part.
  • Characters are split in 2 categories now: "Central Character" and "Minor Character". After the update all characters are assigned to the category "Central Characters". Simply edit a character to move it to the category "Minor Characters".
  • Almost all objects can have notes now. A note is not the same as a description. Descriptions are exported where notes are not. Notes are meant to keep thoughts and ideas while writing (like a "Post-it").
  • On the chronological view scene belonging to another part than the current are dashed now for better separation.
  • StorYBook is now available in Swedish, too. Many thanks to Hindrik for the translation!
  • The new Java Look and Feel called "Nimbus" is supported now. Try it out. However I'm not a big fan of it.

  • The navigation menu has a new entry called "Task List". This task list shows all scenes with a state unquals to "done". Simply double click on a list item and you'll jump to the desired scene.
  • Exported reports (the summary book etc.) can be opened directly now. Simply click on the "open" button after the export. Unfortunately this doesn't work under Linux (the export still works but there is no confirmation dialog after the export anymore). Since this is based on a third party lib, we can't fix it.
  • The "manage lists" are more common now. The lists can be ordered by clicking on a column title. Double click on a row to edit a character resp. a location.
  • The scene dialog is dynamically sized depending on the current size of the main window now. This is another improvement for small screen resolutions as used in notebooks and Netbooks.
  • Last but not least in the chronological view the strands can be sorted now. Move the mouse cursor over the strand title row and wait until the arrows appears. With a click to an arrow strand can be move to left or right - suit yourself.

  • The program was translated to Finnish. Many thanks to Christine!
  • The size of all 3 views can be scaled (zoomed) now. Note: If you open an existing project, the size of all views will be set to "1", which is very small. Simply adjust it after you've opened the project. The sizes will be saved on exit and restored when opening the project the next time.
  • The zoom slider is located on the bottom now as a part of the new status bar.
  • 2 navigations are available now: "Go to a date" and "go to a chapter". The navigation works only in the current part so far. If a date or chapter was not found, a message is shown. You can jump to the next date or chapter by pressing the arrow buttons (""). The navigation windows can be opened during work. Therefore they can be used as a bookmark, too.
  • Each scene can be imported as a and exported to a text file now.
