Install Storybook on Ubuntu PDF Print E-mail

Before you start: You don't have to be the root user to install Storybook. If you don't know what a the root user is, you can ignore that note. It is possible to install Storybook as root, but in this case you have to deal with the menu / desktop icon on your own.

  1. Download the setup file and save it.

  2. Open the home folder, go to Downloads:

  3. Right click on the file name and choose Rename.
Rename the extension of the downloaded file from .bin to .run

  4. Right click again and choose Properties.

  5. Under Permissions click on Allow executing file as program.
    Close the dialog.

  6. Click on the file to open it. A question dialog shows up. Choose Run in Terminal.

  7. A terminal opens and Storybook is being installed. Wait a moment until it is finished and closed.

  8. To start Storybook, open Dash Home and search for Storybook or use the icon on the desktop.

  9. If nothing happens, you probably have to install Java, see Install Java on Ubuntu.

  10. After the start choose Preferences from the menu File.
Under Appearance / Look and Feel make sure that Cross Platform is selected.
The look and feel "System" doesn't work properly under Ubuntu.
