Thanks for the reminder - I'd seen the File Info feature earlier and forgot that it does provide full story word count; but from what I can tell so far, there's no way to break it down by scene/chapter, which would also be helpful when you're trying to keep track of a scene/chapter word count.

For what reason do you have to know the words used in a scene or chapter? Is that some kind of a goal, e.g. write each day 200 words? I'm just curious.

Sorry, I missed your post until just now - in answer to the question, it's primarily because I like to make sure I'm not creating chapters that are too large or too small in comparison to each other. For example, I wouldn't want to have one chapter that's 6000 words, and another that's just 1000. A word count feature is a good way to keep an eye on such imbalances so that I can figure out where to make cuts.

I see, that makes sense. In the next version the word count is shown in the quick info window right below the text for both, scenes and chapters (summary of all assigned scenes).
