This task depends upon
I am currently using a Genealogy program called GenealogyJ (a Java program) to track family relationships for a family saga i am writing. The records are written all to a text file so it should be easy to import the information from it if you care to add that feature. It would be cool to somehow add GenealogyJ as a program working inside Storybook, allowing datatransfer between the two. And since GenealogyJ already has birth date, death date, and a wide variety of additional information to attach to each character, incorporating it might be easier that creating the same functionality from scratch.
LinkGenealogyJ looks interesting. I'll check if and how export / import could be done. Please note that data exchange between two programs is never an easy task (unfortunately).
Some sort of way to indicate relationships between characters would helpful. Genealogy software might be helpful here, as might different kinds of membership software. I currently use a program called ChurchTrac, based on Microsoft Access, that organizes people into households. While this is not exactly the same kind of task, there are some features that are similar. Thanks.
Applications based on Microsoft Access runs on Windows only. Therefore that's not an options.
